Stone is the only material I work with.. Fifteen years ago I recieved an invitation to take part at the exposition "Marble and Sounds" in Arandjelovac. I was supposed to stay three months but I have stayed fifteen years because I found my stone there. It occupied me in whole, quarries, stonemason, tradition as well. There are various materials but I definitely choose the stone. From that time till now, for the last fifteen years I have not taken any other material but stone to work on. I figured out it's richness in possibilities of modeling for various type of stone or surface treatment. while working in stone an artist begins to respect that material which gives him the oportunity of parallel influence from material to the artist and back. That is one way of expressing in sculpturing, an other way, where the idea is on the first place and the artist have all kind of help (computers...). I don't think about myself as a genius, Iallowed to my stone to have it's own soul. If I successes helping him to show that soul, then I am successful artist. It is veritable that stone is long lastong material and it is his fundamental characteristic. Those characteristics liberate sculptors from freight of short-lived works and give them an illusion of taking part in alchemic secret. At the end of every day of sculpturing I feel that I am closer to infinity, to the stone permanency which doesn't have the beggining nor the end. And I feel as a part of that process.. It is my intention to preserve the significance of stone and to reveal the secret that come out of "luck of information". That is how the secret carried by the stone as the second characteristic will become a true reason for the engagement and work of believers. Every piece consists a secret of another shape. One who discovers the other shape could discover himself as well. The success of every sculptor could be measured by the shape of the sculpture. And the third characteristic of stone is it's relation with man. We decieve ourselves when we think we use stone. The essence is slightly different; stone is witness of our existance, With all it's characteristics it tells the absolute truth about us.
